This weekend was great! I got to work for a really great couple who had their wedding at The San Luis Resort in Galveston. Andrea (at the time Conti) first met with us in July of last year. She was extremely excited to be getting married to the love of her life, Jason.
We met during the year and she still was just as excited as the first day I met her. Some brides can become overwhelmed with all of the wedding plans over time, and when I meet with them, they can look just a bit exhausted. Not Andrea. If she was overwhelmed by wedding plans, I would have never guessed it.
One of the drwabacks of our job is that 99 times of 100 we do not get to participate in the ceremony, so we can not tell you how gorgeous it was. If I had to take a guess though, I would say that it would have been something out of a hollywood movie.
When Andrea and Jason arrived, I was blown away by how gorgeous they both were. I swear they both looked like models from the pages of a bridal magazine.
We got everyone in order for the introductions then the show began! Guests were asked to stand as we introduced them to Mr. and Mrs. Jason Burdine! Jason and Andrea entered the room, made their way to the dance floor, and began their first dance. Their choice was a sweet song by Keith Urban entitled 'Making Memories of Us'.
After formal dances, Mr. Robert Long III said a beautiful blessing over dinner. After dinner, the party picked up a notch. All married couples participated in the anniversary dance. The couple married the longest were married for 52 years! Wow. Now that's longevity. They then shared some advice with our newlyweds.
This is Texas and lots of our clients went to college at A&M or UT. It is not unusal to have a room full of Aggies or Longhorns. Sometimes we have both together in the room. In this case, they were Aggies all the way! We played the Aggie War Hymn and all Alumni got on the dance floor.
To further add fun to the mix, everyone participated in the Tarantella, an Italian song celebrated at lots of events. Nani, Andrea's grandmother, led the dance and instructed those who did not know it. This was great because I was not extremely familiar with how it was done, so Nani really helped me. It looked like so much fun that I almost wanted to leave the DJ table and join in as well!
Of course, as always, the night had to end. For their last dance, Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On was the song of choice. Guests then exited the building and grabbed rose petals for the official exit. Andrea and Jason ended their perfect day. I heard that they had been planning their wedding for over 2 years. I'm glad that it all came together flawlessly.
